Applying for Assistance
The Open Doors program helps make First Tee programs affordable for all through an income-based sliding fee scale. To get started:
- Bring your most recent 1040 tax form to the Y. (If you do not file, we will ask you to complete Form 4506-T.)
- Complete a short Open Doors form or apply online and we’ll find the program rate that works for you.
Every two years, the Y will request verification of income to ensure your current membership rate matches your current household income level. Failure to provide updated income documentation results in a $10 fee assessed each month.
Military Voucher Program

We are thrilled to announce the Edward T. Bedford Foundation and the Stanley Blaxton Foundation have renewed their support for our Military Voucher Program, which covers the first $50 of your registration for First Tee classes and summer camps. To apply this to your next program, stop by First Tee — Hampton Roads to complete a form and show proof of military status. First Tee will then add the voucher to your account, so that you can use it immediately to register or when registering online. This voucher extends a $50 discount, per person, per program. You may use this voucher each time you register while funds last. When registering online, your $50 discount will automatically apply in your shopping cart.
Please note that you must add the voucher to your account before registering. First Tee does not provide refunds for registrations completed before the voucher has been added. The voucher may not be applied to Golf 101 lessons.
